This Christmas break, I went to home to NY to see my family! It’s been 2 years since I’ve seen snow!
Lis and her mom, Ann, picked me up despite a storm that was just passing thru the area hours earlier. We got into to Spec around 6am and all fell asleep at Lis’ home.
Most of the trip, I stayed with my uncle Mike and aunt Elaine. There home is so warm to be in…especially when you sit on top of the fireplace…not joking. I missed my family in August so it was great to be there. Angela showed me all of her newest toys, for a thirteen year old that means ipod and computer games. My grandmother and my cousin, Nicky who came up from Florida, were also there for Christmas.
I spent a lot of the first few days sleeping since it was a workweek for most Speculator folks. The rest of the time was spent visiting everyone I could before I left. I didn’t get to everyone whom I had hoped too reach. At least there is email.
The day before Christmas was my first attempt at facing the cold (this three days before I left). Nicky, Mike, Angela, and I hiked up Mike’s land to see the newest tree-stand where he shot this year’s buck – a ten pointer!
Somehow…I think Angela throw the first snowball, which led to an all out war. That war led to Nicky taking Mike down! Nick is 23 now and he whitewashed his dad for the first time. Like a fool, I held the camera yet took no pictures! Now Mike calms that we all ganged up on him so for those who hear his “fable” know that Mike was beat by his son alone!
Christmas day was great. We just did the usual stuff but we were all together. I went over to the Weaver’s home for an hour to say Merry Christmas. They are a neat family. All very different from each other yet they come together and fellowship over our Savior’s birth. I do love them!
My mother is in Albany so on Christmas afternoon, my family dropped me off at her house and I stayed with her until I left on the 27.
She took me shopping the day after Christmas. I did what all good Bahamians do when they get to the States and went a little crazy looking at all those prices buying everything I could take. I think that she now believes that I’m starving over here because of all the food I bought. No worries mom, I’m well feed!
I’ve been back for about 2 weeks now but these have been some crazy weeks. I’ll tell you more about them later. Bye for now!
