Today we had a Fun Day! It was a great day not because of the fun things I did but because of the lesson that the Lord taught me today.

You see, I was helping out with horse rides; just walking the horse like someone walks a dog with a leash but with someone on top. And no matter how well you train any animal, its still an animal.

The God story that I want to share happened on this day, with one of our horses, and a girl.

Lets back up.

Before the day began, I was praying so hard for the safety of every person who was to ride that day. And God was faithful, even when I later forgot that I had asked Him.

The little girl was wearing a cute yellow outfit with a cute yellow purse. I put her up on the oldest of our horses. This horse is low enough that I could hold the girl and walk around if needed. When I put her on top she had no facial expression about it at all, later I knew why. The DJ had just begun to play the song “Jesus Take the Wheel” when we started.

As we rounded the shed and tree, something spooked the horse and he bucked and bucked. I want to say he did that four times.

At first, I did what I should do, try to calm him down but then I remember the age of the girl. When I looked back, I saw that her purse hooked around the horn of the saddle and held her to the seat!

When the horse stopped, the little girl was just looking at me with that same expression, as if nothing happened. I finished the loop with my shades down over my eyes crying because of how much God was in control of everything. The song “Jesus Take the Wheel” had new meaning for me that day.

Some amazing things came to my mind from this all.

One thing was that no one but I knew it even happened because part of the view was blocked by things. And I suppose no one else was looking because not one person freaked out over a jumping horse!

Another thing was the girl’s face. I realized it later that her face was not expressionless but fully trusting in me! She never took her eyes off of me, even when she should have been thrown, I saw that her eyes had been on me the entire time! Not a cry! Not even a frown!

She trusted me when I began to walk with her, through the “ruff ride”, and all the way to the end when I put her down. She had no fear because she kept her eyes on me with her young and innocent heart. The heart of a child!

That set an example to me, in so many ways, of my walk with Christ. If I trusted Christ as that girl did me, nothing would scare me. If I came to the Lord with the heart of a child each day and not with my eyes on the problems.

And how much more is God in control of all the possible dangers around me. God was in control of that horse ride. God was in control of that entire day!
