May update.
This picture of the sun may seem very odd or you may think that the heat is getting me but it tells you what I've been teaching lately.
We have and teach about animals, wetlands, dinosaurs (just the fossils :), and a planetarium.
Much of my time lately has been spent learning, then teaching the Planetarium class to sixth graders. Its a lot of cool information. And like all our teaching, we bring God into the lessons.
Comparisons are made between the sun (its warmth and light shining on us) and God (His warmth, light, and love - 1John 4:8, etc). Other cool comparisons are made within this first session. They build a foundation to things I'll get to challenge them with later in the day.
Things like what they watch on TV and how they treat the opposite sex. This is age when they still want to hear these things since next year, in junior high, it will not be "cool" anymore.
Going from the foundation of God's love and the gospel, to challenging them to walk the walk, and then to share with them how I came to know the Lord. I get to really share with them my heart and life, in hopes that they will see that being a Christian is not about rules but a relationship with the God who created all the things we just learned.
The God who spoke all the planets, moons, asteroid's, comets, our sun (see that picture), stars, and the galaxies in one day! That God wants to know them and live in their hearts.
Its an awesome chance to teach at an age I love and see the most potential to reach. Please pray for me as I learn more.
